So it is old news that Budapest is one of the most romantic cities in Europe, but it is never boring to see romance in the making in the Hungarian capital. Guys just get into such a romantic and lovestruck mood here that they cannot help but pop the big question: Will you marry me darling? This question is heard often in Budapest and to my big delight, I sometimes get to photograph the proposals or the coming elopements following them (Just like it happened with Monica & Gustavo)

Budapest engagement photo session

Engaged couple in Budapest New York Cafe

As a photographer, I just love that the beautiful backdrop possibilities are endless here and usually most locations are quite close, so even I can be surprised how much we can cover in a given time. This photoshoot lasted 60 minutes from our meeting handshake to our farevell handwave and I am proud how many angles and style of photos we managed to do. Photography sessions are just this short dense time capsules, I love it.

Actually, initially I was asked by the man to photograph the proposal itself in Budapest on a Saturday evening. That is always a very exciting job, but it can be stressful for the proposing partner. In the end, he decided to move the photoshoot to the next day and this way we could really concentrate on engagement happy couple photos.

This couple was going to see a show in the Opera and stayed in the fabulous New York Palace, so it was obvious we will use these two locations to create memories together. We discovered the New York Café first as a backdrop, it is a very important historical café where one of the main heartbeats of Budapest was thumping at the turn of the century.

Afterwards, we roamed the 5 start hotel a bit to explore different photo topics. I like to play around with space and size.

Then we grabbed a taxi to the Opera. They wanted to go inside and shoot there but I insisted that first we do some shots outdoors around the Opera as NOTHING beats natural light and I know a few good angles around the place.

Inside of the Budapest Opera House it was quite crowded but even like this, we managed to create some nice shots in our last 8 minutes together.
